Our story

Connections Engineering Outreach was established in 2014, after the Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science (FEAS) at Queen’s University recognized the impact the University could have on STEM learning in the greater Kingston community. Connections is the official Educational Outreach Program of the FEAS, and our primary focus is to provide  experiential learning opportunities for students from Kindergarten to grade 12.

Our mission is to:

  1. Provide experiential opportunities for pre-university students to learn about engineering, with an additional focus on increasing diversity within the engineering profession.
  2. Develop and share quality engineering education tasks that align with the Ontario K-12 Curriculum
  3. Provide support and professional development opportunities for educators looking to integrate engineering and 21st century skills into their practice.
  4. Develop positive relationships between the FEAS and the Kingston community.

Actua provides training, resources and support to its national network of members located at universities and colleges across Canada in the delivery of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education outreach programming.
