Queen's Summer Engineering Academy Junior
What is QSEA Junior & QSEA Intermediate?
With both residence and day options available, the QSEA Junior and QSEA Intermediate programs are an engineering-focused educational summer program for students currently in grade 5 and 6 or grade 7 or 8 that exposes participants to engineering design, innovation, robotics, and makerspaces. The QSEA Jr. and Int. programs presents students with a broad engineering overview, using hands-on learning through thought-provoking projects to inform and engage students without being technically overwhelming. The team-based design projects involve collaboration, leadership, communication, creativity, and critical thinking.
The Academy runs in July and August, and offers two concurrent programs per week. Participants can attend a one-week session or, to get a complete picture, they can register for multiple sessions.
QSEA Junior: Introduction to Engineering
During this course, participants will explore the field of engineering. Students will use the Engineering Design process to design, build, test and improve prototypes. This course will encourage students to merge their creative side with new concepts in engineering.
Throughout this course, participants will learn more about the following engineering disciplines offered by the Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science at Queen’s: Electrical and Computer Engineering, Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering.
