Connections Engineering Outreach and Queen’s Engineering are committed to breaking down barriers for female identifying and non-binary students in STEM. As part of this commitment, Connections Engineering Outreach has developed a series of programs to build confidence and ignite the imagination of young female identifying and non-binary students interested in STEM. We offer programming for female identifying and non-binary students in grades 1 through 11.
*We welcome all self-identifying female participants including cisgender, transgender and gender-diverse students in STEM.
If you have an opportunity for female youth and are interested in having Connections visit your group to offer a STEM workshop, please get in touch! We are always looking for new partnership opportunities in our community and would love to hear from you.

Connections works with several Girl Guide units within Kingston to deliver workshops throughout the year that align with the Girl Guide requirements to receive their Experiment and Create Badge. This badge is earned through completion of the Science Lab Badge, Design Space Badge, and the Art Studio Badge. The Connections team customizes workshops for the different age groups, including Sparks, Embers and Guides, and provides all supplies and equipment for these workshops.
These workshops are focused on building confidence and problem solving skills and provide a hands-on opportunity for the girls to explore the sciences, discover how the world works, code robots, and design their own instruments.
If you have a Girl Guides unit that is interested in partnering with Connections, reach out to our team today!
In 2024 Connections had the opportunity to lead robotics workshop sessions at the annual Girls Inc Summit, held at St. Lawrence College and hosted by Girls Inc. Limestone. This exciting day hosted 150 students from the Kingston area for a day of activities to build life skills, engage in physical activity, and develop an interest in STEM. During our workshop, students learned how to use block coding to program Lego Spike robots through a series of challenges.
Connections is looking forward to continuing to work with Girls Inc. Limestone in 2025 to provide STEM opportunities to the After School Program, for more hands-on robotics activities!
These workshops are offered at partner schools across Kingston - if your school is interested in hosting Lunch & Learn sessions in 2025, contact our team today!
